Biteko: Utilise infrastructure to fast track development

SHINYANGA: DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr Doto Biteko has urged citizens to cherish unity and hard work in harnessing socio-economic infrastructure built by the government to facilitate development.

He made the remark on Tuesday at a special meeting of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) for the Msalala Constituency in Kahama District, Shinyanga Region which focused on presenting the implementation of the party’s Election Manifesto 2020-2025.

“I urge you to unite, love and forgive one another so as to build up our party. Moreover, during the upcoming election make sure you vote for action-oriented leaders,” Dr Biteko said.

In that regard, he called on Msalala Member of Parliament, Mr Idd Idd and other government leaders in Kahama to keep on working hard for development of their constituency.

He said Kahama is strategically located with the Isaka Dry Port where the government has planned to construct a mineral refining plant.

More notably, the district is featured with the presence of main road which connect the country with other Great Lake Region’s countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda and Burundi.

“People will be shocked with us if we fail to forge unity and leverage tremendous opportunities for development of people,” Dr Biteko said.

Furthermore, he demanded CCM’s members in Kahama to prioritise the party’s interests and avoid divisive politics.

In another development, he commended Msalala MP for his impressive performance in attracting development projects in various sectors including education, health, water supply and infrastructure aiming at addressing citizens’ challenges.

He said example of the landmark project already executed in Kahama is construction of the Kakola Road at tarmac level.

Presenting the report for implementation of the CCM’s Election Manifesto, Msalala MP, Mr Idd commended the government for ensuring all 92 villages in their constituency are connected to power.

“The remaining task is to extend electricity connectivity to hamlets,” he said.

He appreciated the government for continuing allocating funds for development projects citing that the water sector alone from 2020 to 2025, received about 2bn/- for expansion of water network in rural areas.

Mr Idd noted that water sector projects growth in 2025 reached 95 per cent compared to 25 per cent in 2020 when he assumed office as MP.

On the education sector, he said the government under President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan added class rooms, hostels and laboratories in efforts of accelerating students’ academic development.

Furthermore, he said currently the government is constructing the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) which after being operational will provide youths with essential skills in the job market thereby strengthening their employability.

Overall, he said so far, the implementation of the CCM’s Election Manifesto stands at 99.9 per cent in Msalala.
