Biteko: Turn out to vote

Speaking in Geita Region yesterday, Dr Biteko reiterated the importance of the election in strengthening the nation’s democracy.

GEITA: AS the campaign for tomorrow’s Local Government Election concludes today, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr Doto Biteko, has called on Tanzanians to actively participate in the election.

In line with election regulations, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has declared tomorrow a public holiday to ensure all citizens have the opportunity to vote.

Speaking in Geita Region yesterday, Dr Biteko reiterated the importance of the election in strengthening the nation’s democracy.

“I urge all Tanzanians who have registered on the Voter’s Roll for the Local Government Election in their respective areas to come out and vote for their leaders,” Dr Biteko said.

He further said that local leaders play a crucial role in the country’s development, describing them as the foundation of the nation.

“These leaders are closest to the people. They understand the challenges of their communities and what needs to be done to address them. It is important that everyone participates in selecting the leaders we need,” he added.

Dr Biteko also reminded citizens that voting is a right for all eligible Tanzanians, encouraging everyone who qualifies to vote tomorrow.

At the close of the civic polls campaign today, the ruling party CCM announced a list of leaders and cadres who will attend the campaign closing events in various regions across the country.

The leaders include CCM Secretary General Ambassador Emmanuel Nchimbi (Dar es Salaam), Deputy Secretary General for Mainland John Mongela (Shinyanga), Deputy Secretary General for Zanzibar Mohamed Said Mohamed (Kagera), Secretary of the CCM National Executive Committee (NEC) Organisation Issa Haji Ussi (Morogoro) and the party Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training Mr Amos Makalla (Dodoma).

Other leaders include Member of the CCM Central Committee Jackson Msome (Tabora), VicePresident and CCM Central Committee member Dr Philip Mpango (Kigoma), Prime Minister and CCM Central Committee member Mr Kassim Majaliwa (Lindi), Second VicePresident of Zanzibar and CCM Central Committee member Hemed Suleiman Abdulla (Coast Region) and Speaker of the National Assembly and CCM Central Committee member Dr Tulia Ackson (Songwe).

The list also has the Speaker of the Zanzibar House of Representatives and CCM Central Committee member Zuberi Maulid (Iringa), Chairperson of the Women’s Wing (UWT) Mary Chatanda (Kilimanjaro), Chairperson of the National Parents’ Wing Fadhili Maganya (Manyara), Chairperson of the Youth Wing (UVCCM) Mohamed Ali Mohamed (Rukwa) and CCM Central Committee member Halima Mamuya (Tanga).

Others in the CCM National Executive Committee include Mwigulu Nchemba (Singida), Mohamed Aboud Mohamed (Ruvuma), Nassir Ally Juma (Katavi), Ally Hapi (Mbeya), Jokate Mwegelo (Njombe), Dotto Biteko (Geita), Hussein Bashe (Mara), Livingstone Lusinde (Arusha), Steven Wasira (Mwanza), Nape Nnauye (Mtwara) and Kasheku Msukuma (Simiyu).
