Arusha to host major public service, HR conference

DODOMA: TANZANIA will next week host a major gathering of public administration and human resource experts who will meet in Arusha to deliberate on strengthening governance and human capital management in the public service.
The African Association for Public Administration and Management (AAPAM) – Tanzania Chapter, in collaboration with the Tanzania Association for Public Administration and Human Resources (TAPAHR) and the Tanzania Public Service Human Resource Managers’ Network (TPS-HRMnet), has organised the Second Annual National Conference for HR and Public Administration Professionals.
The conference will run from May 5 to 8, 2026, at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC), with the Minister of State in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Mr Ridhiwani Kikwete, expected to officiate.
Speaking during a media briefing in Dodoma on Wednesday, AAPAM Tanzania Chapter Chairperson Leila Mavika said the conference will feature high-level discussions led by seasoned public service experts who will present core topics aimed at improving performance, professionalism and service delivery.
She said the sessions will also identify opportunities to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders, address challenges affecting HR and governance functions and propose practical solutions to enhance productivity in the public service.

The meeting will be held under the theme: “Rethinking Public Service Delivery: How Governments Can Use Technology to Enhance CitizenCentred Services, Tackle Youth Unemployment and Address Environmental Challenges.” Ms Mavika urged all employers in ministries, regional administrations, local government authorities, government agencies, public institutions, universities and autonomous departments to facilitate the participation of their HR and administration officers, saying capacity-building is essential for quality service delivery.
“I also extend sincere appreciation to all employers who have already supported their officers in the administration and HR cadres to attend this important conference,” she added.
On the final day, May 8, participants will undertake a team-building exercise in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, designed to strengthen collective performance and collaboration.
AAPAM Tanzania Chapter was established to strengthen the operational capacity of public servants, conduct professional research, address governance and HR management challenges within the public service and organise capacity-building programmes in partnership with experts across Africa.
