AMCE medical service impresses Tanzanian VP

ABUJA, NIGERIA: TANZANIA’s Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango, has praised the establishment of the African Medical Center of Excellence (AMCE), describing it as a model for the African continent that will significantly reduce the costs of sending patients abroad for specialized treatment.
Dr. Mpango made the remarks during his visit to the AMCE facility in Abuja, Nigeria, expressing his admiration for the significant investment made in the center. He noted that the facility is equipped with modern medical technology to offer advanced treatment, including for cancer and other chronic diseases.
During the visit, the Vice President also commended the medical experts who previously worked in hospitals outside Africa for their decision to return to the continent and collaborate with local professionals in delivering high-quality healthcare services.

The center, which is funded by the African Export-Import Bank (Afrexim Bank), is expected to become one of the leading institutions in Africa providing world-class specialist healthcare services.
In a separate engagement, Dr. Mpango held talks with Professor Benedict Okey Oramah, Chairman of the Board and President of Afrexim Bank. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 32nd Annual Afrexim Bank Meeting, currently underway in Abuja.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and Afrexim Bank, particularly in the implementation of strategic development projects.
Dr. Mpango is in Nigeria representing the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the 32nd Afrexim Bank Annual Meeting, which aims to address key economic development issues across the African continent.
