AKSC, Upanga register commanding wins in Caravans Cup

DAR ES SALAM: AUROBINDO AKSC and RAAH Upanga SC emerged victorious in in Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup, with both sides delivering stellar performances in matches staged at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana oval.
In the opening fixture, Aurobindo AKSC faced KX Intek Gymkhana in a rain-affected contest reduced to 19 overs per side.
AKSC won the toss and opted to field first. KX Intek Gymkhana posted a modest 107 for 8, with skipper Amit Raghuvanshi (26 off 24) and Ahmed Mohiuddin (29 off 26) making useful contributions.
For AKSC, Aaryan Premji stood out with the ball, claiming 2 wickets in a tidy spell.
The DLS-adjusted target was set at 110, and Aurobindo AKSC chased it down with just three balls to spare, reaching 110 for 6 in 18.3 overs.
Jumanne Masquatar played a vital hand with 39 off 31, while Sivaraj Selvaraj anchored the middle overs with a patient 24 off 30, later earning him the Ras Logistics Player of the Match Award. Despite a strong bowling performance from Nikila Nishanga (3 for 20), KX Intek Gymkhana fell short. The Colourflex Dot Wizard Award went to Dhyey Shah for his 14 dot balls, while Ahmed Mohiuddin earned the Pepsi Power Hitter Award for clearing the ropes twice.
The Caravans Green Earth initiative continues to grow alongside the tournament, with 16 trees pledged from this match.
In the day’s second game, Park Mobile Lions faced off against RAAH Upanga Club in a match that proved to be a one-sided affair. Park Mobile Lions won the toss and elected to bat first but were bowled out for 81 runs, with only Roopkumar Yadav offering resistance with 34 off 41 balls.

The RAAH Upanga bowling attack was relentless: Ramesh Alluri starred with 3 wickets, while Ajay Yadav, Sanjay Bom, and Rishen Patel claimed 2 wickets apiece.
RAAH Upanga wasted no time in the chase, reaching the target in just 6.4 overs for the loss of two wickets. Asuri Rajendra remained unbeaten on 31 off 17, with Ajay Yadav (23 off 11) and Vikram Rathore (22 off 11) ensuring a blistering finish. Yadav was deservedly awarded both the Pepsi Power Hitter and Ras Logistics Player of the Match Awards for his explosive batting and key wickets. Ramesh Alluri picked up the Colourflex Dot Wizard Award after delivering a clinical spell with 17 dot balls.
An additional 19 trees were pledged through the Caravans Green Earth initiative, bringing the total number of saplings promised on the day to 35 — underscoring the tournament’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
