2025 Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup set to bowl off in Dar

DAR ES SALAAM: THE 16th edition of the Petrofuel TCA Caravans Cup, featuring eight teams, officially launches tonight in Dar es Salaam.

Organised by Caravans Cricket Club in partnership with the Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA), the tournament runs from 28 June to 10 August 2025 at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club.

According to Thulasee Das, the Chairman of Caravans Cricket Club, this year will feature eight franchise teams. These include the defending champions, Alliance Caravans and the 2024 finalists, Aurobindo AKSC.

Joining them are the Flashnet Aces, Harab Motors Pak Stars, Park Mobile Lions, Raah Upanga Club, as well as the qualifiers Jiuzhou Patel Samaj and KX Intek Gymkhana. The round-robin format ensures each team plays the others once.

The top four advance to the knockouts, leading to the final on August 10.

The Cup includes both local and international players, with participants from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and the UK, raising the standard of play and offering Tanzanian cricketers valuable exposure. Caravans Cricket Club, tournament hosts and record three-time champions, aim to reclaim the title.

Chairman Thulasee Das described the event as a vital platform for cricket development and community engagement.

The launch event unveiled team line-ups and jerseys, marking the official start of the competition. Petrofuel (T) Limited returns as Title Sponsor.

Other key sponsors include Alliance Insurance, ASAS, Automark, Ras Logistics and Pepsi.

Franchise sponsors are Aurobindo, e-Parking, Flashnet, Harab Motors, KX Intek, Jiuzhou and Raah Holdings, supported by partners like Colourflex, Tata, Flightlink, Ashton Media and Freight World. Two community initiatives were also announced.

A blood donation drive, in partnership with the Lions Club and Muhimbili National Hospital, will run during the tournament.

A tree-planting campaign will see one tree planted for every boundary and 20 for major milestones like centuries, five-wicket hauls and hat-tricks.
