Airtel Money, two others join forces for affordable mobile health insurance

Dar Es Salaam: Jubilee Health Insurance has partnered with Axieva and Airtel Money Tanzania to introduce a comprehensive and affordable Health insurance cover, specifically tailored to cater for diverse needs of individuals and families across the country.
This strategic partnership aims at revolutionizing the health insurance landscape by providing affordable, market-relevant, and easily accessible services, right at the fingertips of Airtel Money customers.
According to a report by Finscope Tanzania 2023, only 3.5 million Tanzanians have Insurance cover down from 4.2 million in 2017.
The Health Insurance partnership aims at supporting the 75 percent of Tanzanians who own a mobile phone by providing them with a well-crafted mobile healthcare product Afya Poa, Afya Supa and Afya Dhahabu.
The health services solutions are dedicated to extending insurance benefits to millions of Tanzanians who have not been able to access health insurance services for various reasons such as accessibility and affordability of Health insurance.
By simply dialing *150*60# on the Airtel network, Airtel Money customers will gain access to a comprehensive and affordable range of insurance cover, including:
Afya Poa which is a Hospital Cash cover that will reimburse customers a pre-determined amounts of between Tsh 20,000 and 50,000/- per night spent in hospital starting from the 2nd night at monthly premiums of between 300/- and 3,000/-.
The Second benefit which is Afya Supa will offer customers a cashless Inpatient limit of Tshs 5,000,000 and Maternity of Tshs 2,000,000 per year and one can include a spouse and up to 5 (five) children.
Premiums for Afya Supa will range between Tshs 15,000 and 45,000 per month. The third benefit, Afya Dhahabu will also offer a cashless Inpatient benefit of Tshs 8,000,000, outpatient benefit of Tshs 600,000 and Maternity benefit of Tshs 2,000,000 per year for monthly premiums of as low as 30,000/- per month.
The insurance solutions have been designed to be inclusive, serving people of all generations, with a minimum entry age of 18 years and a maximum joining age of 65 years at entry.
The hospitalisation benefits of Afya Supa and Afya Dhahabu are cashless options that will enable our Airtel Money customers to access medical care without paying any money. They simply walk in and out of the hospital enjoy coverage within the purchased limit.
Afya Poa on the other side is aimed at replacing income lost during one’s hospitalization. The cash reimbursement is equally hassle-free as customers can simply initiate a claim by dialing *150*60# from their Airtel line and follow the simple instructions.
While speaking during the event Jubilee Health’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Harold Adamson said “We are very happy to partner with Airtel Money and Axieva in the revolution of the insurance sector in Tanzania.
