AgroGlobe zeroes in on improved vegetable seeds producing high-quality crop

DODOMA: AGRICULTURAL input supplier, AgroGlobe, says access to quality seeds and crop nutrition is key to improving farm productivity and enabling Tanzanian farmers to compete in domestic and international markets.

AgroGlobe agricultural expert Alex Kindu said the company supplies improved vegetable seeds and plant nutrition products designed to help farmers increase yields and produce high-quality crops that meet market demand.

Speaking during the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibitions in Dodoma, Mr Kindu said inadequate crop nutrition remains one of the major factors limiting agricultural productivity among smallholder farmers.

“We have introduced different crop nutrition products to enable farmers to practise productive agriculture. We also provide training to help them understand the right nutrients for different crops so they can achieve better yields,” he said.

Mr Kindu said the company believes that improving farmers’ knowledge is just as important as providing quality agricultural inputs, as proper use of fertilisers and improved seeds leads to higher production and better-quality harvests.

According to him, AgroGlobe’s goal is to help farmers move from low-income farming to commercially viable agriculture by increasing productivity and improving access to reliable markets.

He noted that market research conducted by the company shows that many farmers are forced to sell their produce immediately after harvest at low prices because of market oversupply and limited storage facilities.

He cited onions as an example, saying many farmers cannot store the crop after harvesting and are compelled to sell it quickly to avoid post-harvest losses.

Mr Kindu said AgroGlobe is addressing these challenges by supplying high-quality seeds capable of producing crops that meet both local and export market standards.

“Our objective is to equip farmers with quality seeds and the right production technologies so they can obtain better prices, access reliable markets and earn higher incomes,” he said.

He added that improving the quality of agricultural produce would strengthen Tanzania’s competitiveness in regional and international markets while contributing to increased agricultural productivity and farmers’ livelihoods.
