AFCON 2027 opens major business opportunities for Tanzanians

DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzanian companies, institutions and qualified service providers have been urged to bid for tenders announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Tanzania will co-host with Kenya and Uganda.

The call was made in Dar es Salaam on Friday by Local Organising Committee (LOC) Secretary Neema Msitha, who said the tenders covered a wide range of services required for preparing and staging CAF competitions, including AFCON 2027.

Ms Msitha urged qualified Tanzanian companies and local businesses to take advantage of the opportunities by following official CAF tender announcements and submitting bids within the stipulated deadlines.

“LOC urges Tanzanians with the capacity, qualifications and interest to pursue these opportunities to follow the official tender announcements through the CAF website, read the requirements for each tender and submit their applications in accordance with the procedures and deadlines set by the Confederation,” she said.

She said the opportunities covered various sectors, including sports, business, professional services, technology, marketing, transport and accommodation, among others, depending on the requirements of individual tenders.

According to Ms Msitha, the tenders provide local companies and service providers with opportunities to participate directly in activities linked to the preparation and staging of AFCON 2027.

“Tanzania is ready to host the tournament, and it will be wise and beneficial for Tanzanians and local businesses to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the preparations,” she said.

The 2027 AFCON will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, providing businesses across the three countries with opportunities linked to the tournament’s preparation and delivery.

Ms Msitha’s appeal highlights the potential for the competition to generate business opportunities beyond football, particularly for companies capable of meeting CAF’s professional, technical and operational requirements.
