ACT Wazalendo urges elders, youth to uphold Ramadhan teachings

ZANZIBAR: THE ACT-Wazalendo political party’s National Chairman, Mr Othman Masoud Othman, has urged elders and youth in Tanzania to continue practicing the values they learned during the holy month of Ramadhan, emphasising their importance in maintaining national peace and security.

“It is crucial to pray to Almighty God for the solidarity and unity that encouraged goodness and peace during Ramadhan to continue beyond the holy month,” said Othman, who also serves as the First Vice-President in Zanzibar’s Government of National Unity (GNU).

Mr Othman made these remarks during a meeting with elders and youth in Nungwi, North Unguja, as part of a series of visits to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with the public.

He stressed the importance of both leaders and citizens promoting peace and goodwill beyond Ramadhan. Mr Othman further insisted the need for citizens and leaders to uphold the spirit of faith and unity observed during Ramadhan, noting that maintaining this spirit would prevent instability and electionrelated anxiety, as everyone desires peace.

“We must make the electoral process a normal one that does not divide us. What matters most is fairness and transparency,” he said.

Addressing land issues, Othman reaffirmed ACT-Wazalendo’s commitment to ensuring that landowners benefit from their property without exploitation, as land rights are fundamental to peace.

Speaking to the elders and youth in Nungwi, Mr Othman said that land is a God-given resource and citizens must benefit from it.

The ACT-Wazalendo Youth Chairman for North A Region, Mr Nassor Madai, added that the youth are focused on strengthening community groups to enhance unity within the party and among the people.

He assured that both elders and youth are preparing to participate peacefully in the upcoming General Election and called on relevant authorities to ensure justice is upheld.
