Sanlam to harness Dodoma Marathon for insurance awareness

DAR ES SALAAM: Sanlam Insurance, one of the key sponsors of the NBC Dodoma Marathon has announced its strategic initiative to leverage the upcoming sixth edition of the annual event to be held on July 27 in Dodoma as a platform for enhancing public knowledge on the vital role of insurance. This initiative aims to reach a diverse audience, including athletes and various community groups.

The company’s commitment was articulated by Chief Financial Officer Mika Samwel during a formal event held in Dar es Salaam yesterday, marking Sanlam Insurance’s sixth consecutive year as the marathon’s key sponsor.

The event brought together key officials from Sanlam Insurance and representatives from the National Bank of Commerce (NBC), the marathon’s organizers. It was spearheaded by Tatiana Masimba, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, and Godwin Semunyu, Head of Communications and Public Relations at NBC.

“Supporting essential causes such the fight against cervical cancer, funding support for midwifery initiatives aimed at reaching an additional 200 midwives, and launching a groundbreaking program to educate 100 nurses specializing in care for children with autism across the nation, Sanlam Insurance is earnest in utilizing this marathon to promote understanding of various insurance types, especially health insurance, within our communities and among athletes,” said Mika.

Equally, Mika highlighted the pressing need for comprehensive insurance education within the community, pondering the challenges still faced by sports stakeholders in grasping the broad benefits and importance of insurance. In response, Sanlam Insurance is resolute in transforming this event, along with others, into a comprehensive educational outreach concerning the critical significance of health, life, and business insurance for diverse societal groups, including entrepreneurs and sports professionals.

Discussing the fruitful collaboration between the two institutions, Semunyu commended Sanlam Insurance for its unwavering support over the years.

He emphasized NBC’s commitment to maximizing the marathon as a fertile platform for advancing Sanlam Insurance’s educational mission within the community.

“As our colleagues at Sanlam Insurance recognize the importance of our partnership in the goal of raising 700m/- to facilitate the core objectives of this marathon, we, too, are steadfast in leveraging every opportunity during this promotional period to underscore the significance of insurance across all community sectors,” Semunyu pointed out.
