Samia, JPM’s philosophy earns kudos

TANZANIA: IN a heart-warming celebration of the late President John Magufuli’s legacy, veterans of the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) shared their deep satisfaction with the current government’s dedication in continuing with the philosophy and strategies initiated by the departed leader.

Retirees, including retired army colonel, Masanja Sande and former army engineer of war jets, Engineer Japheth Mwandimo, spoke yesterday during the television interview to mark three years since President Magufuli’s death.

They said that the concept of “Kazi Iendelee” is the ideal of Magufuli’s “Hapa kazi tu” doctrine.

Embracing the philosophy of ‘Kazi Iendelee’ alongside Magufuli’s iconic ‘Hapa kazi tu’, the veterans said both philosophies emphasised the significance of responsibility, work discipline and integrity in driving the nation towards prosperity.

Retired Col Sande, praised the relentless commitment shown by the late President Magufuli, both during his tenure as Minister of Works and later as Head of State. He said engaging directly with project sites, the late Magufuli set a precedent for operational excellence that inspired a culture of accountability and ethical practices throughout the nation.

“When he came to power, he did it on a bigger scale, and we now see the concept of responsibility, work discipline, and integrity taking its course,” he said.

Reflecting on the late Magufuli’s impactful leadership, Engineer Mwandimo highlighted the emphasis placed on integrity and discipline, which catalysed significant progress across various developmental projects.

The veterans noted that President Samia has admirably continued the trajectory by adhering to the principle of ‘Kazi iendelee’ that is propelling Tanzania’s growth and advancement. Drawing parallels between past and present leadership philosophies, veterans lauded the seamless transition from the late Magufuli’s era to Samia’s administration.

Upholding the legacy of influential leaders like Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and former Prime Minister- the late Edward Moringe Sokoine, the government has sustained momentum in key infrastructural projects such as the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) projects and the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Project (JNHPP).

They noted that the continuity signifies a proud tradition of building upon past achievements for the collective benefit of the nation. While acknowledging the political landscape, the veterans underscored the importance of the opposition parties in supporting the country’s development agenda.

They further appealed for unity beyond party affiliations, urging all citizens to rally behind President Samia as she steers Tanzania towards a brighter future.

“Let’s leave personal interests behind and support our president,” noted Col Sande. Furthermore, Engineer Mwandimo, stated that like the national torch which is passed from one generation to the next, Tanzania’s presidents stand as living testaments to resilience, unity, and unwavering dedication to national growth.

“Let us honour their wisdom and experience by embracing a shared vision of progress and transformation, transcending individual interests for the greater good of our beloved nation,” he noted.
