Amani Stadium face-lift nears completion

FACELIFTING works at Amani Stadium in Zanzibar are almost done as the venue is set to stage the 60th anniversary of the country’s revolution.

Through a video posted by Zanzibar’s Chief Government Spokesperson Charles Hillary, it shows him admiring the way the venue looks at night.

“We are here at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, at night, the venue is attractive because of the floodlights that have been installed.

“This is how the stadium will look like when face-lifting works are fully completed, games will be played at night, the place is beautiful and grasses on the pitch are in good condition.

“In simple words, the stadium is now ready to host any match and this is how the stadium will look at night and they have announced that the 60th anniversary of Zanzibar revolution will be held here.

“And even the Mapinduzi Cup tournament will be played here at Amaan Stadium, it is all joy here in Zanzibar as the country continues to transform…thank you very much President Hussein Ali Mwinyi for the big job you are doing,” Hillary said in the clip.

Aside from the main stadium, the clip also shows two other magnificent venues outside which have also been decorated with floodlights.

The renovation of Amaan Stadium has been facilitated as it will be among the arenas picked to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals to be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
