Relief as construction of MSD warehouse for Kagera Zone nears completion

GEITA: CONSTRUCTION of a new Medical Stores Department (MSD) warehouse for the Kagera Zone in Chato District, Geita Region, has reached 97 per cent completion, a development expected to strengthen the institution’s capacity to efficiently store medical supplies for Kagera, Geita and neighbouring areas once it becomes operational.

The warehouse, covering 4,800 square metres and costing 19bn/-, is expected to become a major centre for storing and distributing medical supplies, while expanding MSD’s service coverage from the current 11 councils to 17.

Kagera Zone MSD Manager, Kalendero Masatu, said completion of the facility would enable the institution to increase its storage capacity, maintain medical supplies at the required quality standards and extend services to more customers.

He explained that through the new Chato warehouse, the zone would expand its service coverage to include councils previously served by the Mwanza Zone, as well as two additional councils from Kigoma Region that were formerly served by the Tabora Zone.
