Bupamwa School gets 80m/- gas stove
MWANZA: THE government will install a clean-energy gas stove worth about 80m/- at Bupamwa Secondary School in Kwimba District to improve cooking services and promote the use of clean energy in schools.
Mwanza Regional Vocational Education Officer Machota Kora announced the support during the school’s 17th Form Four graduation ceremony yesterday.
“The stove will have four burners and will be supplied with pots and other cooking equipment,” Mr Kora said.
He said the project forms part of an initiative to provide clean-energy cooking facilities to 25 schools in Mwanza Region through support from energy stakeholders.

Mr Kora urged parents and other stakeholders to contribute materials needed for the installation of the stove.
He also congratulated Bupamwa Secondary School for its academic performance, saying it ranked seventh among 260 government schools in Mwanza Region in the Lake Zone Proficiency Test held in June.
According to Mr Kora, all candidates passed the examination, giving the school a 100 per cent pass rate, while the school has gone five consecutive years without recording a zero grade.
Headmaster Herman Shingisha said the school, which has been approved to admit Form Five students in the 2026/27 academic year, also requires additional facilities, including a library, cafeteria and teachers’ houses, to support its expansion.
