Tanzanian youth embrace creative arts to promote tourism, environmental conservation
ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged the youth to embrace creative talents to promote the country’s tourist attractions, culture and heritage while creating jobs and income opportunities.
The President made the call during a photography auction held in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, saying creative arts could play a greater role in promoting tourism and environmental conservation.
She encouraged the youth to use their talents to showcase Tanzania’s natural and cultural attractions to local and international audiences, turning creativity into sustainable economic opportunities.
The event brought together more than 200 young people, with works by 15 photographers selected for the exhibition and 10 photographs sold through an auction.
The proceeds are expected to support initiatives promoting the use of clean cooking energy and environmental conservation.
National Bank of Commerce (NBC) Chief Executive Officer Theobald Sabi said the financial sector had an important role to play in supporting youth creativity and developing solutions that accelerate the adoption of clean cooking energy while protecting the environment.

He said financing and other forms of support were critical in strengthening the wider clean cooking energy value chain and enabling innovative solutions to reach more people.
The event was organised by the Mwanamke Initiative Foundation (MIF) in collaboration with Waba Group as part of efforts to promote youth creativity, tourism and environmental conservation.
In recognition of its contribution to the event and support for the sustainable development agenda, NBC received a special award from President Samia.
The initiative highlights the growing potential of creative industries to contribute to tourism promotion, environmental awareness, employment creation and income generation among young Tanzanians.
