Farmers’ exhibitions attract exhibitors from 24 countries

DODOMA: Over 1,300 exhibitors, including those from 24 countries, have confirmed their participation in the 2026 National and International Nane Nane Exhibitions, which will begin on August 1 at the Dr John Samuel Malecela Grounds in Nzuguni, Dodoma.

During the week-long event, representatives from 14 countries, including diplomats, are also expected to visit the event.

This was revealed in the capital yesterday when Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Athuman Kirundumya, and Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule, inspected infrastructure at the Nzuguni Nane Nane exhibition grounds and declared that preparations had been completed.

Briefing reporters after touring the area, the Deputy PS said some exhibitors would be coming from North America, Africa, Asia and Europe.

He said Tanzanians would have an opportunity to learn about various modern agricultural practices and technologies from exhibitors from countries such as the United States, the Netherlands and Burundi.

“So, I welcome all Tanzanians to visit the exhibition and learn about various modern agricultural practices and technologies from the exhibitors. Some challenges, even those not directly related to agriculture, including land disputes, will also be addressed at the event because all public institutions and private sector stakeholders will be here,” he said.

On her part, Dodoma Regional Commissioner Ms Senyamule said improvements to the Nzuguni exhibition grounds had subsequently increased the number of exhibitors by 26 per cent, compared to the 896 exhibitors who attended the event last year.

She said various permanent buildings had been constructed to provide extension services to farmers.

The RC said the event would be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba on August 1, 2026.

She said August 3 would be observed as Cooperatives Day and would also mark the 10th anniversary of the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI), with Vice-President Dr Emmanuel John Nchimbi expected to officiate.

According to the timetable, President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to preside over the closing ceremony and the National and International Nane Nane celebrations for farmers, livestock keepers and fishers on August 8.
