Tanzania, Singapore set for high level trade, digital economy talks

DAR ES SALAAM: AS dusk settles over the city, a warm African welcome awaits Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, whose arrival this evening marks the beginning of a landmark State Visit to Tanzania.
The visit goes beyond ceremony, representing a strategic engagement between two countries seeking to deepen cooperation in trade, technology, and sustainable development. From the shores of the Indian Ocean to the heart of Tanzania’s emerging economy, the visit signals a shared ambition to transform diplomatic relations into stronger economic partnership.
A statement issued this evening by the Director of Communication at State House, Bakari Machumu, indicates that President Shanmugaratnam’s visit is at the invitation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
According to the statement, official engagements will begin on Wednesday at State House in Dar es Salaam, where President Shanmugaratnam will be formally received by President Samia. The two leaders are expected to hold official talks focusing on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, human capital development, skills training, and the digital economy.
“The discussions will provide an opportunity to consolidate existing relations while exploring new areas of partnership that can support inclusive and sustainable growth,” the statement reads.
