Smart Imaging Drive launched to tackle delayed heart disease diagnosis in Africa

DAR ES SALAAM: Medical experts from across Africa and beyond have gathered in Tanzania for the Heart Team Africa CardioTan Imaging 2026 International Scientific Conference, a major initiative aimed at improving cardiac diagnosis and reducing deaths linked to heart diseases through advanced imaging technologies.

The three-day conference, co-organised by the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), opened at Blue Sapphire Hall in Dar es Salaam under the theme “Smart Imaging for Stronger Hearts.”

Speaking during the opening session, lead organiser and JKCI cardiologist Dr Amani Mwinyi said delayed diagnosis remains one of the biggest challenges facing cardiac care in Africa.
