TEMESA Toyota Tanzania in talks to modernise vehicle maintenance through strategic cooperation

DAR ES SALAAM: THE TANZANIA Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA) and Toyota Tanzania have held strategic discussions aimed at improving and modernising vehicle maintenance services in the country, with a strong focus on technology, skills development and efficiency in service delivery.
The meeting, held at Toyota Tanzania offices in Dar es Salaam, brought together TEMESA Executive Director, Kheri Mahimbali, and Toyota Tanzania General Manager, Jatin Pandya, alongside senior officials from both sides.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in vehicle servicing, particularly for government fleets, and enhancing the overall quality of automotive maintenance services in Tanzania.
Mahimbali said TEMESA is committed to transforming its operations by ensuring that all government vehicle maintenance services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in line with international standards.
He said the agency is increasingly embracing modern technology to improve workshop performance and service delivery.
He noted that collaboration with Toyota Tanzania presents an important opportunity to enhance technical capacity among local mechanics and improve service standards through knowledge sharing and joint technical initiatives.
“TEMESA sees a great opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Toyota through joint initiatives that will enable exchange of technical expertise and improve efficiency in the services we provide to our stakeholders,” said Mahimbali.
He added that TEMESA is working to upgrade its workshops and introduce modern systems that will enhance reliability, safety, and speed in servicing government vehicles across the country.
On his part, Toyota Tanzania General Manager Jatin Pandya reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting TEMESA through technical training, advisory services, and the introduction of advanced automotive technologies.
He said Toyota Tanzania places strong emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction, noting that partnerships with public institutions are key in strengthening local capacity in the automotive sector.
“At Toyota, we prioritise safety and quality for all vehicle users. We believe this collaboration will play a key role in improving vehicle maintenance services in the country and building the capacity of local professionals,” said Pandya.
He added that Toyota will continue sharing global best practices and supporting the development of skilled technicians capable of meeting modern automotive industry demands.
Following the discussions, Mahimbali visited Toyota Tanzania workshops, where he observed modern diagnostic tools and advanced vehicle repair technologies. The visit provided practical insight into global standards in automotive maintenance and service efficiency.
Among the key issues discussed was the possibility of establishing a Public-Private partnership (PPP) framework between TEMESA and Toyota Tanzania.
The proposed arrangement is expected to strengthen workshop capacity, improve operational efficiency, and enhance service delivery for both government and private sector vehicles.
The two institutions agreed that the cooperation marks an important step towards transforming Tanzania’s vehicle maintenance sector through innovation, skills development, and stronger institutional collaboration.
