Karatu DC underscores government support to investors

ARUSHA: THE Government will continue protecting local investors and supporting investments that contribute to social and economic development, Karatu District Commissioner (DC) Lameck Karanga has said.
Speaking on Friday during the launch of a new Oryx fuel station operated by Halyaz Company in Karatu, Mr Karanga said the investment reflects the government’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment for local entrepreneurs.
He noted that the fuel station project aligns with the vision of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan to empower domestic investors and encourage private sector growth.
Mr Karanga described Karatu as a key tourism gateway, saying the new facility will improve access to reliable fuel supplies for transporters, tourists and other road users.
“On behalf of the district, I congratulate you for this investment. Beyond establishing a modern fuel station, you have created an attractive environment through the landscaping and gardens around the facility, demonstrating your commitment to adding value to Karatu,” he said.
The DC also commended the company for maintaining high environmental standards and urged other businesses to emulate the initiative.

He encouraged residents and entrepreneurs in Karatu to invest in similar ventures to create jobs and boost government revenue through taxes.

Halyaz Company Director Ally Abdulrazak said the fuel station has been established to meet the growing demand for quality energy services in Karatu.
He explained that the company partnered with Oryx due to its reputation for supplying clean and safe fuel suitable for different types of vehicles.
According to Mr Abdulrazak, customers will receive world-class services delivered by well-trained staff operating under strict quality standards.
He said the company decided to invest in Karatu after receiving numerous inquiries from tourism operators and other customers seeking reliable fuel services in the area.
“Our goal is to sell more than 10,000 litres of fuel daily while expanding lubricant services to meet customer demand,” Abdulrazak said.
Representing Oryx Tanzania Managing Director, Finance Manager Greyson Francis said the launch of Oryx Karatu forms part of the company’s broader expansion strategy.
Mr Francis noted that Oryx operates in 19 African countries and has established a presence across all regions of Tanzania. He added that the company plans to open two more fuel stations in Dar es Salaam in the near future.
