Tanzania commits to deepen its worthy cultural ties with China

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has reaffirmed its commitment to continue strengthening and expanding its cultural cooperation with China, emphasizing that culture has long served as a key bridge connecting the two nations.
Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Paul Makonda made the statement when speaking during the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations celebrations in Dar es Salaam noting that Tanzania and China have maintained cooperation in various fields including arts, culture, education and people-to-people diplomacy, which has strengthened their historic bilateral relations.
“Culture has remained an important link of our friendship and solidarity. Tanzania will continue working with China to advance this important sector for social and economic development,” he said.

Additionally, the minister said that the two countries share a long history of cooperation established by their founding leaders, citing the construction of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) as a lasting symbol of economic partnership and a contribution to Africa’s liberation struggles.

He further said the government has begun construction of a modern African Liberation History Preservation Centre in Kongwa, Dodoma Region, which will serve as an important facility for preserving the continent’s liberation history and promoting African unity.
The event featured exhibitions and traditional performances from both Tanzania and China, showcasing cultural exchange and friendship between the two nations.
