Tanzania names industrial growth, private sector development among 7 priorities in 2026/27

DODOMA: THE Minister for Industry and Trade Judith Kapinga has unveiled seven key priorities that will guide the ministry’s agenda in the 2026/2027 financial year, with strong focus placed on industrial growth, innovation and private sector development.

Presenting the ministry’s budget estimates to Parliamentarians in Dodoma today, May 22, 2026, the minister said the government will continue implementing flagship and strategic industrial projects aimed at accelerating economic transformation.

Additionally, she also mentioned the strengthening of industrial production capacity and improving service delivery by enhancing the enabling business environment, including the construction of industrial clusters and industrial estates to support small and medium-sized industries.

The minister further noted that the government intends to stimulate industrial and trade development through innovation, modern technology and skills development programmes designed to improve productivity and competitiveness.

Other priorities outlined in the budget include improving access to finance and capital for entrepreneurs and industrial producers, as well as creating a more conducive environment for business and private sector growth.

She also added that the ministry will continue searching for local and international markets for Tanzanian goods and services while also establishing and strengthening innovation and business hubs for youth to help drive economic growth and entrepreneurship.
