Tanzanian outlines plans to implement the Education and Training Policy by improving curricula

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government has outlined plans to implement the 2014 Education and Training Policy by improving curricula, expanding school infrastructure, constructing new schools including those for vocational training, providing teacher training, and ensuring each student receives a textbook.
Additionally, for the 2024/2025 financial year, the number of newly recruited teachers in the education sector reached 12,678.
These details were provided in Parliament on April 8, 2026, by Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Wanu Hafidh Ameir, while responding to a question from Mwera Constituency Member of Parliament, Suleiman Mohamed Rashid, regarding the implementation of the 2014 Education and Training Policy, 2023 edition.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted that the government has launched a scientific program to enhance literacy and numeracy skills, alongside a collaborative initiative involving employers, technical colleges, and universities to ensure graduates gain skills for self-employment or formal employment.
Furthermore, the government is reviewing the Education Act to ensure it aligns with the policy’s requirements and necessary updates for effective implementation.
