Kombo blesses the IPA offices construction heading to Zanzibar Revolution’s 62nd anniversary

ZANZIBAR: THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has laid a foundation stone for a training building for public servants at the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) in Zanzibar, as part of the 62nd anniversary celebrations of the Zanzibar Revolution.

Speaking shortly after laying the foundation stone in a ceremony held in Tunguu, the Minister urged the institute’s teachers and students to continue developing themselves so that their skills meet current demands.

Elaborating, the minister said that in today’s world of rapid technological change, public servants must enhance their knowledge to avoid being left behind while others advance.

Additionally, he stressed the need for the institute to incorporate courses on ICT applications, citing artificial intelligence (AI) as an example of how technology can create realistic images and sounds of people as if they were performing certain actions.

“Progress is not just about impressive buildings but what matters is the content that equips students to adapt to changes by understanding the world’s needs and timing,” he said.

Regarding protocol and diplomacy training, Minister Kombo urged students to diligently learn how to engage with leaders at various levels globally, to build confidence, and to maintain professionalism when addressing international relations issues from the podium.

The further pledges to provide the institute’s students and lecturers with opportunities for higher education through the Union government, starting with five spots for applicants who meet admission requirements.
