Police inspectors mark their 15th National Anniversary

MWANZA: THE Commissioner of Police, Community Policing Commission, CP Alex Mkama, has urged the police force in the country to observe ethics, discipline and responsibility at all times while carrying out their duties, in order to strengthen good relations between the force and the public.

Mkama said this today, August 22, 2026,  during the 15th national anniversary celebration for inspectors and police officers of GH Tanzania held yesterday at the grounds of Mitindo Primary School in Mwanza.

He said it is important for the police to continue to remind each other about the ethics of the Police Force, due to the importance of having discipline in the performance of their duties.

He said some police officers have been complained about by the public due to the way they carry out their duties, so it is important to ensure that every police officer adheres to the principles of ethics and provides services to the public with respect and professionalism.

“We should be disciplined. It is good for the police to talk to each other about discipline and continue to remind each other to respect the ethics of the Police,” said Mkama.

In addition, He urged police to build a culture of learning and using various methods in dealing with crime, saying that changes in society and types of crime require police to have knowledge and the ability to use the right methods in carrying out their duties.

In another step, CP Mkama urged citizens to continue providing important information to the Police Force regarding criminal acts and incidents that may threaten the peace and security of the community.

He said citizens should not wait until a criminal incident occurs or until they reach the police station, but should provide information early when they identify indicators of crime or anything that may disrupt peace.
