Promote your country’s beauty, Tanzanian diaspora urged

DAR ES SALAM: THE Chairman of Tanzanians living in Sweden, Norman Jasson has urged all diaspora to build a culture of speaking positively about Tanzania in the countries they live in and stop dragging the country through the mud by speaking bad things about it.

Jasson made the call today, when speaking on TBC1’s Jambo Tanzania program, noting that it is the responsibility of every Tanzanian to safeguard the peace of their country, because, though living abroad one day, they will just need to return home.

“To speak badly about Tanzania is the same as speaking badly about your father or mother. Your parents gave birth to you, raised you, and educated you until you gained understanding; then you went to Europe. Today, when I meet a Tanzanian speaking badly about Tanzania, I feel sorry for them because they do not know what they are doing, or they do not know what they are missing because home is simply home,” he said.

He added, “It is impossible to deny your father just because he is an alcoholic; instead, you try to present him well in every way so that neighbors may respect him. I advise my fellow brothers and sisters who speak badly about Tanzania to think about this. If these host countries expel us and we are forced to return home, after tarnishing your own country, where will you return to? Because at the end of the day, home is home. Let us love our country and speak positively about it.”

Moreover, the Chairman advised youth to cultivate a habit of loving their country, urging them to seek knowledge through digital platforms in more creative ways so that they can succeed in life.

The Tanzanian, who has lived in Sweden for the past 35 years, stated that there are youth who like to speak negatively about their country on social media, believing that they will find more opportunities by going to Western countries. He stated that the belief is not true.

Additionally, Norman said that Tanzania has made significant developmental progress, which has created many opportunities that can greatly benefit its youth if well utilised.
