Through this MoU, both parties expect to enhance competency standards, safety, and quality in the seafaring profession, while strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Tanzania and Qatar.
The agreement is expected to increase job opportunities for Tanzanian seafarers on vessels registered or operated by Qatari companies, as they will no longer be required to undergo repeated certificate validation procedures. It will also reinforce cooperation in the maritime transport sector between the two countries.
Additionally, the agreement will enable seafarers to gain better benefits and access more competitive job markets, and it will promote the transfer of international skills and expertise as they work in environments with advanced technology and high safety standards. It will also strengthen Tanzania’s capacity in maritime training, as the country’s institutions and certifications will gain broader international recognition.
