TRITA seeks solutions to migration challenges facing Tanzania  

MWANZA: THE Regional Immigration Training Academy (TRITA) has organized the fifth Migration Management Workshop with the aim of discussing and exchanging experiences on immigration management.

The workshop also seeks to assess the best approaches to promoting investment activities by identifying policy and legal challenges and developing recommendations that will assist the government through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Immigration Department in addressing those challenges.

The workshop officially began yesterday in Mwanza, with Miriam Mmbaga, the Director of Administration and Human Resources from the Ministry of Home Affairs, serving as the guest of honour on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

Speaking during the opening session, Mmbaga emphasized the significance of the training provided by TRITA, located in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region.

She noted that certificate-level courses and above offer an important opportunity for Tanzanians seeking to build the country’s professional capacity in immigration matters.

On his part, the Commissioner of Immigration for the Passport Division, Gerald Kihinga, represented the Commissioner General of Immigration, Dr. Anna Peter Makakala.

 Delivering the Commissioner General’s remarks, CI Kihinga urged participants to make good use of the workshop to learn, deliberate, and propose positive recommendations that will help improve performance and service delivery within the Immigration Department.

Commissioner Kihinga added that the Immigration Department continues to implement major operational reforms, especially the use of digital systems in service delivery.

 He stated that this transformation has enhanced efficiency and transparency in serving citizens and visitors, while also reducing opportunities for corruption.

The workshop has brought together Immigration Commissioners, regional immigration officers, immigration experts, and various stakeholders from within and outside the country.
