Dr Mpango lands in Nairobi for Raila Odinga’s national funeral

NAIROBI: TANZANIA’S Vice President, Dr Philip Mpango, has flown to Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the national funeral of the Kenyan former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who passed away on Wednesday this week..
Representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Vice President is attending the funeral accompanied by the Former President, Jakaya Kikwete, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmod Thabit Kombo.
The national funeral of the iconic politician will be held at the Nyayo grounds in Nairobi.

The former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, who died on Wednesday, is set to be buried near his late father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, at the Kang’o ka Jaramogi homestead.

Revealing details of his burial on Thursday, October 16, Raila’s elder brother and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga noted that the former PM will be laid to rest near his father’s mausoleum in Bondo.
Raila Odinga, who was also a perennial presidential candidate whose populist campaigns rattled authorities and gave him an outsized influence on political life in his East African country, was suffering from a heart attack.
