Kunje: Protect priceless peace during polls

COAST REGION: THE Alliance for African Farmers Party (AAFP) presidential candidate Mr Kunje Ngombale Mwiru has urged Tanzanians to cherish and maintain the country’s peace, especially during this critical period of preparations for the upcoming General Election.

Mr Kunje made the remarks recently while addressing a public rally in Mlandizi Ward, Kibaha District, Coast Region, during the official launch of AAFP’s campaign in the region.

“The peace we enjoy today is a result of the strong foundation laid over many years. We must protect and preserve it, as it allows us to go about our daily activities without disruption. Once peace is lost, it is not easy to restore,” he cautioned.

He further said that if elected, one of the AAFP’s top priorities will be transforming the agricultural sector, with a special focus on improving the livelihoods of farmers.

“AAFP is committed to uplifting the lives of farmers by promoting the agriculture sector. We plan to utilise our natural resources, fertile land and abundant water to cultivate various crops that will generate foreign exchange and improve the welfare of Tanzanian farmers,” Mr Kunje said.

He promised Mlandizi residents, most of whom depend on farming along the River Ruvu basin, that his government would provide modern farming equipment, including power tillers, to boost agricultural productivity. AAFP’s presidential running mate, Ms Chumu Juma Abdallah, also addressed the rally and pledged that if the party wins the election, education will be made free for all Tanzanians from primary school to university level.

“We want to assure Tanzanians that no child will be denied an education due to lack of school fees. Our party has developed clear policies to guarantee free education for all,” she declared.

On her part, Chairperson of AAFP’s Women’s Wing, Ms Shani Kitumbua said that the rights of women and children would be prioritised under an AAFP-led government.

“We will ensure that women are socially and economically empowered so they can contribute to their families and to national development. Furthermore, we will take firm action against any form of violence targeting women and children. This includes public education campaigns and strict enforcement of laws against perpetrators,” she said.
