Ethiopia, Tanzania pledge to deepen their ties as they prepare for their 2nd  ministerial meeting

DODOMA: TANZANIA and Ethiopia are set to deepen cooperation in agriculture, transport, energy, infrastructure, industries and trade as the two countries prepare for their second Joint Ministerial Meeting.

This was disclosed during talks between the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru Maghembe and Ethiopia’s outgoing Ambassador to Tanzania, Fekadu Beyene Ayana, who paid a farewell visit.

During their discussion, Dr Maghembe commended the Ambassador for his contribution to strengthening diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries during his tenure while citing the successful convening of the first Tanzania-Ethiopia Joint Ministerial Meeting in Addis Ababa in December 2024, describing it as an important milestone in bilateral relations.

Additionally, the deputy minister stated that the ministry is continuing to coordinate and oversee implementation of agreements reached during the meeting, while preparations are underway for the second Joint Ministerial Meeting, which is expected to be held in Tanzania.

For his part, Ambassador Ayana thanked the Tanzanian government for the cooperation and conducive environment he enjoyed during his tenure and stressed the need for the two countries to further expand strategic cooperation, particularly in agriculture, transport, energy, infrastructure, industrial development and trade.

The ambassador also outlined plans by the Ethiopian Embassy to further develop its plot at Mtumba Government City in Dodoma, as part of efforts to strengthen Ethiopia’s diplomatic presence in Tanzania.
