Priest hands over 52m/- police station in Kondoa

DODOMA: THE Coordinator of Youth Ministry for the Roman Catholic Church’s Archdiocese of Dodoma, Father Paul Mhindi, has officially handed over a newly constructed Itololo Kimbury Police Station in Kondoa District, valued at 52m/- to the Police Force.

Father Mhindi initiated the project as part of celebrations marking his silver jubilee, commemorating 25 years of dedicated service.

In his keynote speech, Father Mhindi explained that his family has a tradition of charitable service to the community. Recognising the crucial role of the Police Force in safeguarding citizens’ security and maintaining peace and stability, they decided to contribute to social and spiritual development by building the station.

He further explained that residents of Itololo in Kimbury Ward had to walk long distances to access police services, prompting him and his family to join forces and address this challenge by constructing the police station.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura, Dodoma Regional Police Commander ACP Gallus Hyera commended this generous act and pledged to cooperate with residents to ensure the delivery of quality services in line with the law, regulations and the ethics of police officers.

ACP Hyera also urged citizens to stop harbouring criminals and to report incidents promptly to help bring crime under control.

The people of Itololo pledged their support to the Police Force by committing to provide timely information to enhance security in the area.

Yesterday, Radio Maria, owned by the Roman Catholic Church in Tanzania, called on Tanzanians and the Catholic community at large to join in sending special blessings to Father Paul Mhindi as he celebrates his silver jubilee.

“I warmly invite everyone to share in this blessing as I mark 25 years of serving the Church and the community,” said Father Paul Mhindi, Parish Priest of St John the Apostle Parish, who also serves as Coordinator of Youth Ministry for the Archdiocese of Dodoma, Director of Communications and Chaplain of Radio Maria Tanzania.

The Police Force envisions a society with low crime rates and respect for the rule of law. Its mission is to protect people and their property from unlawful acts by detecting, preventing and tackling crime to uphold law and order in the United Republic of Tanzania.

The Force’s core values are professionalism, patriotism, character, integrity and innovation.
