Tanzania boasts to shine at CHAN 2025

DAR ES SALAAM: WITH less than a month to go before the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) kicks off, Deputy Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, Hamis Mwinjuma, has expressed full confidence in Tanzania’s readiness on and off the pitch.

Speaking during a recent press tour of the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club training grounds, Mwinjuma assured the public that preparations are in top gear ahead of the ‘Taifa Stars’ opening clash against Burkina Faso on August 2.

“The government has invested heavily to ensure Taifa Stars perform at the highest level,” Mwinjuma said.

“Our boys will camp in Egypt for 10 days and play strong international friendlies as part of our competitive build-up.” His remarks highlight the government’s commitment to making CHAN 2025 a success.

The biennial tournament, reserved for players competing in their domestic leagues, offers a rare stage for local talent to shine.

Mwinjuma confirmed that all stadium infrastructure is fully complete, with international standards met for match venues, training facilities, accommodation, transport and security.

He urged fans to fill the stadiums and back the Taifa Stars, noting that their energy can make a crucial difference.

“We have the talent. Now we need every Tanzanian to stand behind them. The fans are part of the team.”
