800 delegates in Dodoma as PM officiates TOA General Meeting tomorrow

DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa is on expected to officiate the General Meeting of the Organisation for the Improvement of Local Government Authorities (TOA), in Dodoma tomorrow April 14 – 16  this year.

The three-day meeting is expected to draw more than 800 delegates and stakeholders from both the government and the private sectors. Its goal is to foster transformative development through strengthened local government systems.

Speaking in Dodoma over the weekend, TOA National Chairperson, Mr Albert Msovela, said the meeting will feature a series of presentations and discussions to enhance the performance of local government authorities across the country.

This year’s theme is ‘Fiscal Decentralisation as a Catalyst for Socio-Economic Development in Local Government Authorities’.

Mr Msovela, who also serves as the Katavi Regional Administrative Secretary, noted that the theme underscores the significant achievements of the six-phase government in channeling financial resources to local authorities to address community challenges.

“The meeting offers us an opportunity to commend the President’s leadership and commitment to local development. We thank her for the support and wish her continued good health,” he said.

According to him, the gathering will also include the election of new TOA leaders who will steer the institution for the next three years.

TOA comprises Regional Administrative Secretaries and Directors of Local Government Authorities from Mainland Tanzania, alongside other institutional members.
