6bn/- set aside for classrooms construction in Dodoma Region
DODOMA Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule has said that more than 6bn/- has been allocated to complete construction of 16 new primary schools in the region.
The RC said this in a meeting to discuss the BOOST project with District Commissioners, Education Officers and Regional Directors held in Dodoma recently.
BOOST project aims at improving equitable access to quality learning in preprimary and primary education in mainland Tanzania.
She said that a total of 153 classrooms will be built and more than 3bn/- has already been allocated to ensure that the construction is completed.
“We are also expected to build 16 model classrooms for early education where an amount of 508.8m/- has already been allocated for the construction of the infrastructure but also one special education classroom will be built and 23m/- has already been allocated for that purpose.” she said.
“This project will also involve the construction of 106 toilets where a total of 180.2m/- has already been allocated” added Senyamule.
Ms Senyamule explained that through the Tanzania Secondary Education Quality Improvement Project (SEQUIP), the Dodoma Region received more than 5bn/- from the government for the construction of 11 new secondary schools whereby Mpingwa Secondary School (Bahi), Mtemi Chiloloma Secondary School (City), Keikei Secondary School (Kondoa) DC), Tura Day Secondary School (Kondoa Mji), and Lenjulu Secondary School (Kongwa) received a total of 400m/- each and the construction of those schools has already been completed.
She said that through the SEQUIP project, the construction of Lwondo Secondary School in Mpwapwa District, Zajilwa Secondary School in Chamwino Distict, Nhinhi Secondary School in Chamwino District and Churuku Secondary School in Chemba District is still ongoing though close supervision is required to complete the work.
