Tanzania envisions tourism boost in ATCL’s direct flights to Seychelles

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA’S national carrier, Air Tanzania Company Limited, has officially launched direct flights from Dar es Salaam to Seychelles, in an event led by the Minister of Transport, Makame Mbarawa.

The launch was marked by the inaugural flight from Dar es Salaam to Seychelles, with members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Infrastructure in attendance, led by the committee’s chairperson, Selemani Kakoso.

Speaking during the launch ceremony in Seychelles, Prof Mbarawa said the new route will serve as a bridge connecting markets, people, and economic opportunities between the two countries.

“This route will reduce travel costs between Dar es Salaam and Seychelles while also improving accessibility for tourists and business travelers,” he said.

Earlier, Seychelles’ Principal Secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, David Bianchi, said the launch marks a new phase of regional cooperation across the Indian Ocean.

He added that the development is expected to increase passenger traffic, boost tourism, and promote cultural exchange between the two nations.
