TANZANIA:PREMIER League teams are actively strengthening their squads ahead of the upcoming season, with Dar Giants setting the pace.

Simba SC introduced 24-year-old Burkinabe leftback Valentin Nouma yesterday, securing him from DR Congo-based club St Eloi Lupopo on a three-year deal.

Nouma is expected to provide competition for Mohamed Hussein in the leftback position.

Msimbazi street giants announced another signing, an Ivory Coast centre-back Chamou Karaboué from RC Abidjan in the evening yesterday.

Meanwhile, Young Africans (Yanga) have finalised the signing of Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube  from Azam FC on a two-year contract.

The transfer window opened on the 15th of last month and will close on the 15th of next month.

Simba has already completed eleven new signings as they aim to rejuvenate the club’s fortunes.

The majority of their acquisitions are under 25 years old, reflecting the club’s strategy to build a youthful and competitive team for the long term.

Among Simba’s new signings are four local players: Omary Omary (19), Valentino Mashaka (18), Abdulrazack Hamza (21), and Lameck Lawi.

The remaining six players hail from outside Tanzania: Joshua Mutale (22), Steven Mukwala (24), Ahoua Charles (22), Augustine Okejepha (20), Debora Mavambo (24), Valentin Nouma (24) and Chamou Karaboué (29).

As part of their pre-season preparations, Simba will depart for Egypt today for a training camp, the club’s Media and Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally said.

Meanwhile, Dube becomes Yanga’s second signing of the season, following the acquisition of former Simba midfielder Clatous Chama.

Yanga’s focus remains on reinforcing their squad ahead of their campaign in the CAF Champions League next season.

Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) has also been active in the transfer market, securing Nickson Mosha from Championship side Mtibwa Sugar, Jean Nyezimana from Burundi’s Vital’O, Oscar Paul from Kenya’s Kakamega Homeboys, Fabien Mutombora from Uganda’s Vipers, as well as Salim Athuman Salim from KVZ and Ajoh Austin from Cameroon’s Union Sportive.

Coastal Union has announced the signings of Anguti Luis from Uganda’s KCCA and Abdallah Hassan from Kenya’s Bandari.

In other news, Azam FC is preparing for a fiveday training session in Zanzibar before heading to Morocco for a two-week training camp.

Assistant Coach Youssouph Dabo confirmed these plans, adding that Azam intends to play at least four friendly matches before returning to Dar es Salaam.
