Japan Ambassador calls for stronger Tanzania-Japan business ties

BAGAMOYO: JAPANESE Ambassador to Tanzania Yuichi Mikami has called for stronger economic and trade cooperation between Tanzania and Japan, saying the two countries have significant opportunities to deepen business and investment ties.

Ambassador Mikami made the remarks during a visit by a Japanese delegation to the Kamal Group factory, where he expressed his appreciation for the visit and the opportunity to learn more about the company’s operations.

He said Tanzania and Japan have longstanding historical and geographical ties through the Indian Ocean, creating significant opportunities for the two countries to cooperate and learn from each other, particularly in trade and investment.

Ambassador Mikami also commended companies for their role in strengthening business relations between Tanzania and Japan, saying such visits and partnerships were important in building stronger ties between the two countries.

For his part, Kamal Group Managing Director Sameer Santosh said the visit by a delegation representing more than 10 Japanese companies to Tanzania had been productive, noting that the companies had expressed interest in investing in various business and industrial sectors in the country.

Mr Santosh said Kamal Group saw significant opportunities to partner with the Japanese companies, particularly because of their experience and technology in areas including steel, agriculture, transport and wholesale trade.

He said such cooperation could help increase investment, establish new industries and enhance production capacity in Tanzania.

Mr Santosh said Kamal Group was also implementing plans to expand its investments over the next two to three years, including establishing additional factories within its Industrial Park.

He added that Japanese companies could make a significant contribution to Tanzania’s industrialisation drive through their advanced technologies and production systems.

He said Kamal Group itself had adopted the Kaizen approach in its production operations, a system associated with continuous improvement in workplace processes.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Tanzania, Ryutaro Muyamoto, said the visit would help strengthen relations between the two countries while promoting trade and economic cooperation.
