Young Africans have opened a three-point lead at the top of NBC Premier League thanks to a 2-0 win against Namungo FC.
DR Congo imports Yannick Bangala and Tuisila Kisinda scored in each half of the entertaining game at Majaliwa Stadium in Ruangwa, Lindi on Wednesday evening as Jangwani based club walked away with maximum points.
The victory is second in a row by Yanga after subduing Tanzania Prisons 1-0 in their previous league encounter in Dar es Salaam.
The defeat has also ended Namungo’s unbeaten streak at home by the Young Africans and it’s is the second win for the latter against the former in the Premier League.
As it stands, Yanga have completed the first round of the season at the summit of the table with 38 points from 15 matches.
For Namungo, the outcome has seen them ending the first chapter of the league on ninth place with 18 points from 15 outings.
In an early match, Singida Big Stars suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat from Coastal Union at Liti Stadium in Singida.
Meanwhile, the premier league is set to be paused to pave way for the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) games.
