1,100 Tanzanians benefit from International Education Fairs held in Dar, Dodoma, Zanzibar
DAR ES SALAAM: MORE than 1,100 students, parents and guardians have benefited from a series of international education fairs held in Zanzibar, Dodoma and Dar es Salaam, where participants received guidance on studying abroad, explored scholarship opportunities and secured university admissions.
The exhibitions attracted a total of 1,113 participants, underscoring the growing demand among Tanzanians for reliable information on overseas education and career opportunities.
Speaking after the conclusion of the Dar es Salaam fair on recently, Global Education Link (GEL) Managing Director Abdulmalik Mollel said the events provided participants with one-on-one guidance on course selection, universities, scholarships, tuition fees, accommodation, visa applications and student life in different countries.The response we received in Zanzibar, Dodoma and Dar es Salaam shows that students and parents need proper guidance before making decisions about higher education,” he said.
According to him, more than 700 people attended the exhibition in Zanzibar at Maisara Grounds, while 168 participated in Dodoma and another 245 attended the Dar es Salaam event.
The fairs also translated into real opportunities, with 209 university admission applications submitted across the three exhibitions.
In Zanzibar, 79 applications were submitted to universities in China, India, Malaysia, South Africa and other countries, with 30 students receiving immediate admission offers.
Dodoma recorded 78 applications, 50 immediate admissions and 40 students opening new files to continue with university admission procedures.
In Dar es Salaam, 108 prospective students expressed interest in studying abroad, resulting in 52 applications, 41 admission letters being issued and 15 new student files being opened.
Mollel said the exhibitions enabled students to engage directly with university representatives, ask questions and receive personalised advice based on their academic performance, financial capacity and career aspirations.
He added that students were encouraged to pursue programmes aligned with labour market demands and Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050, particularly in health and medical sciences, engineering, information and communication technology (ICT), artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, energy, modern agriculture, business, finance, transport, tourism, education and industrial technologies.
Universities participating in the Dar es Salaam exhibition included Lovely Professional University, Sharda University, SRM University-AP, Maharishi Markandeshwar (Deemed to be University), Noida International University and Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation. Information was also available on study opportunities in China, Malaysia, North Cyprus, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and Dubai.
Following the success of the previous exhibitions, students, parents and guardians from the Lake Zone have been invited to attend the next international education fair, which will be held on July 30 at Rock City Mall in Mwanza from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Form Four, Form Six, diploma and degree graduates, as well as prospective postgraduate students, are encouraged to attend with their academic results or certificates to receive guidance and explore admission opportunities with international universities.
