Zuchu, Mbosso, Marioo to brighten Zanzibar’s Special Music Festival

ZANZIBAR: BONGOFLAVA mega stars, Zuchu, Mbosso, Marioo, Jux, and Makabila will be in Zanzibar have been picked to brighten the Special Music Festival in Zanzibar to support the General Elections campaign that officially starts this weekend.

The festival has been organized by CCM Zanzibar on August 30, featuring top artists from the Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, and the event’s songs will be used during the party’s campaigns.

CCM Zanzibar Secretary for Ideology, Training and Publicity, Khamis Mbeto Khamis, said the Festival will feature Bongo Flava stars, traditional taarab, dance troupes, and cultural performances.

CCM has received numerous songs dedicated to its presidential candidates, President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr Mwinyi, and the festival will serve as a platform to select the official campaign anthems.

In retrospect, the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate for Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi, is scheduled to collect his nomination papers from the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) on Saturday, August 30, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming general elections.

This was announced by CCM Zanzibar Secretary for Ideology, Training and Publicity, Khamis Mbeto Khamis, during a press briefing at the party’s Kisiwandui headquarters in Unguja. The announcement comes just a week after ZEC released the official timetable for the 2025 general

Mbeto urged CCM members and all supporters of development to turn out in large numbers to escort their candidate along the procession route and participate in the Mau Grounds rally.

Apart from the CCM candidate, those who have declared interest in vying for the Zanzibar presidency this year include: Mr Othman Masoud Othman (ACT-Wazalendo), Mr Juma Ali Kahtib (ADA-TADEA), Mr Hamad Masoud (CUF), and Mr Said Soud Said (AAFP).

According to the ZEC timetable, the collection of nomination forms runs from August 28 to September 10, with official nominations scheduled for September 11. Campaign activities will commence the same day and conclude on October 27, ahead of voting on October 29.

Mbeto said CCM and its affiliates have made extensive preparations to ensure the festival is unique and memorable as part of the build-up to the election campaigns. He called on party members and the public to attend in large numbers, describing the event as a special night of celebration before the official campaign season begins
