Zubeda replaces Regis as new Simba CEO
DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA have parted ways with their Chief Executive Officer (CEO) François Regis and appointed Zubeda Hasani as the Acting CEO.
The club made the announcement over the weekend through a press release shared on their official social media platforms – Instagram and X handle.
“We would like to inform the public that Simba SC and François Regis, our Chief Executive Officer, have reached an agreement to terminate our contract due to reasons beyond our control,” the statement read. “We thank Mr Regis for his service at the Club.”
In the same announcement, Simba confirmed the appointment of Zubeda Hasani Sakuru as the Acting CEO.
“The Board has appointed Miss Zubeda Hassan Sakuru as Acting Executive Director for the while,” the press release stated.
Sakuru, who is currently completing her PhD, holds two master’s degrees in Management and Public Policy from the University of Warwick (UK) and Mzumbe University (Tanzania). She also has a Bachelor’s degree from Mzumbe University.
The club further highlighted Sakuru’s experience, noting her prior role as Project Manager at Simba.
“Ms Zubeda has worked as a Project Manager for Simba SC assisting Mr Kajula (Imani, former CEO) on the policy reforms and management consultation,” the statement added.
The club’s leadership transition comes after Regis served as CEO for about four months. He had joined Simba on July 26, 2024, replacing Iman Kajula, who had been CEO since January 2023.
Simba SC expressed their gratitude to Regis and welcomed Sakuru in her new role. “Please join us in wishing Regis well and welcoming Zubeda to Simba SC,” the club concluded.
With Sakuru’s qualifications and deep involvement in the club’s operations, Simba SC is confident she will lead the team effectively through this transitional period.
