ZRB registers 5,738 taxpayers as of last month

ZANZIBAR Revenue Board (ZRB) has as of last month registered 5,738 taxpayers under the Virtual Fiscal Management System (VFMS), with 6,349 electronic devices supplied.

Deputy Minister of State, President’s Office, Finance and Planning Ali Suleiman Ameir explained in the House of Representatives here yesterday that one business can own more than one gadget, depending of the size of operations.

The deputy minister was answering a question by Wawi Representative Bakar Hamad Bakar who wanted to know the benefits of the electronic system in tax collections. He said during a period of over one year—July 2021 to last August—there were 2,6,58,842 sale transactions through the system.

The government further has introduced special arrangement for small entrepreneurs to acquire the gadgets on installment payments, the deputy minister informed the housed, noting that by last August 182 traders had applied for arrangement.
