IT was a bright weekend for Zimamoto and the little known Kundemba after the teams overpowered tough rivals in the race for Zanzibar Premier League’s maximum points.
Zimamoto defeated Chipukizi 1-0 in league match staged here at Amaan Stadium over the weekend while Kundemba beat Dulla Boys in a game staged at the same venue late Saturday.
It was Mohammed Faki Sosha who netted Kundemba’s winner through a spotkick. The victory over Dulla Boys has earned Kundemba 12 points.
Zimamoto, who, scored their winner through Hassan Chega, are now commanding the Isles Premier League table with 17 points.
Zimamoto have now leapfrogged Malindi on superior goal average as both teams have reaped 17 points.
Also with a bright weekend were Jamhuri whose match was played at Finya grounds, punishing Mafunzo with 2-1 victory.
The Premier League continues today with a match between Malindi and JKU at Amaan Stadium.
Meanwhile, the Head Coach of JKU, Sheha Khamis Sheha said he needs to drill further his players in terms of fitness ahead of the remaining matches of the Isles league.
JKU who play against Malindi today, have lost four games in their recent fixture, a situation the coach intends to sort out.
He said the team has been creating many scoring chances, but his players most often squander.
JKU are placed 10th in the standings having reaped 10 points.
