ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR Minister for Water, Energy and Minerals, Mr Shaib Hassan Kaduara, has commended Puma Energy Tanzania for its contribution to advancing the government’s vision for sustainable and inclusive energy solutions.
Speaking yesterday in Fuoni, Zanzibar, during the launch of Puma Energy Tanzania’s first fuel station in the region, the minister highlighted the company’s role in strengthening the energy sector and fostering Zanzibar’s economic development.
Minister Kaduara noted that the company has been extending consistent support to Zanzibar’s aviation sector by ensuring a reliable supply of aviation fuel, significantly contributing to the growth of tourism, a cornerstone of Zanzibar’s economy.
“Your efforts have enabled travelers from various parts of the world to visit our beautiful islands without challenges, enhancing Zanzibar’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination,” he said.
The minister further noted the company’s contributions beyond the energy sector, citing its involvement in community development projects such as improving infrastructure at Kisiwandui School, benefitting over 2,000 students.
He assured the government’s continued cooperation with Puma Energy to build a prosperous Zanzibar where no one is left behind, emphasising the importance of universal energy access.

Company’s Managing Director Fatma Abdallah described the launch of the new fuel station as a milestone in their commitment to empowering communities and contributing to Zanzibar’s economic growth.
“This is a significant day as we open our first station in Zanzibar, continuing our efforts to expand access to fuel and related services in the region. Puma Energy has long operated in mainland Tanzania and now we are here in Zanzibar,” she said.
She emphasised Puma Energy’s broader agenda of creating partnerships, opportunities and solutions for international-standard energy services in Zanzibar. She also called on the Zanzibar government to facilitate access to investment areas for various energy projects, including automotive and aviation fuels.
Chairman of Puma Energy Tanzania’s Board, Dr Selemani Majige, affirmed that energy access is fundamental to economic development and emphasised the company’s commitment to sustainable growth in Tanzania.
