Zaipuna to address global banking forum
DAR ES SALAAM: NMB Bank Plc Managing Director and CEO Ruth Zaipuna said her invitation to speak at the Cambridge Africa Business Conference 2026 reflects growing global confidence in African financial institutions and Tanzania’s rising influence in global banking and financial services.
The Cambridge Africa Business Conference 2026, scheduled for end of this month at the University of Cambridge, presents a strategic opportunity to position Tanzania and NMB Bank more prominently on the global financial stage at a time when African banks are increasingly being recognised as key drivers of innovation, financial inclusion and sustainable economic transformation.
Ms Zaipuna is expected to deliver a keynote address on NMB Bank’s transformation journey and its economic impact in Tanzania, highlighting the bank’s evolution from its microfinance roots into one of the country’s leading financial institutions.
“This is a proud moment for NMB and for Tanzania. Our story is not only about the growth of one bank; it is about what disciplined execution, purpose-led leadership and trust can achieve in an African market,” she said.

“At Cambridge, we will share how NMB has transformed itself while remaining firmly connected to the communities, businesses and national priorities we serve.” Her participation is also expected to elevate the country’s profile in international investment and banking discussions, reinforcing the country’s emergence as a key player in Africa’s evolving financial ecosystem.
Her participation positions NMB and Tanzania within a wider conversation on African enterprise, sustainable finance, innovation and leadership. Themed under “Building Africa’s Future: Capital, Innovation & Pan-African Scale” the platform brings together business leaders, investors, founders, students and policy-minded professionals engaging on Africa’s role in shaping future growth.
For NMB, the invitation comes at a time when the bank continues to build its regional and continental profile through financial inclusion, digital transformation, sustainable finance and strong institutional performance.
