Young Africans qualify for CAF Champions League group stage after 25 years

DAR es SALAAM: Young Africans have gallantly stepped into the group stage of CAF Champions League (CAF CL) after a 3-0 aggregate win over Al Merrikh.

The Tanzania’s envoys have produced a 1-0 triumph in the reverse leg match at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Saturday evening.

Substitute Clement Mzize’s towering header in the 66th minute has cemented the home side’s opportunity to venture in the last 16.

Mzize has netted in two consecutive Champions League game versus the Sudan giants after doing the same at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda where Yanga cherished a 2-0 success.

History has been made by the Jangwani based outfits after missing the CAF CL group stage mission for 25 years.

It is a joyous moment by millions of Yanga fans across  the continent whose wish to see their team cruising to the next phase of the contest has been materialised.

On Sunday, Simba face Power Dynamos in the second leg of CAF CL match at Azam Complex, another good chance for Tanzania to deploy two teams in the group stage of the competition.

Also, Singida Big Stars play Future FC in Egypt in the return leg of CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) match and the former enjoy a 1-0 lead.
