Young Africans off to Nigeria ahead of CAFCC match against Rivers

Young Africans have left the country on Thursday morning en route to Nigeria for their CAF Confederation Cup match against Rivers United.

The two teams meet in a double-header quarterfinals match of the confederation cup whose winner automatically sails to the semifinals.

A contingent of 49 members has made the trip looking forward to record convincing results in a game scheduled at Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in the city before the departure, Yanga striker Fiston Mayele says they expect a tough match.

“This is going to be the first leg encounter before welcoming them (Rivers United) here as such, we are ready to withstand the pressure.

“Hopefully, good results will come our way after the game and this is what we are searching for,” says Mayele.

To reach this far, Yanga topped group D of the confederation cup with 13 points while Rivers United scooped second slot in group B courtesy of 10 points.
