Young Africans hit Kurugenzi 8-0 to progress into ASFC last 16

Young Africans have began Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) title defense with a bang after clearing Kurugenzi 8-0 to float into the last 16.

The duo interface at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday night battling for a space into the next phase of which Yanga have passed.

Goal gates for Yanga opened in the 12th second after the kick-off courtesy of youngster Clement Mzize who went on to seal a quadruple before he got substituted in the second half.

However, in the 8th minute, Kurugenzi defender Jefta John slotted into his own net as he attempted to clear a dangerous ball into their territory.

This was rather a christmas gift for Yanga as it increased their goal tally while for the visitors, it simply added salt on the fresh wound.

Also on target for the holders were David Bryson and Yusuph Athuman with the latter contributing a brace as he enjoyed a good day at office.

With the outcome, there is a possibility to witness another traditional derby in ASFC just like what happened last season.
